I agree, but Andrea would not think of this on her own. She is employed by NT for this investigation. She has no idea what positives the Epiphytes can bring to it, or even if they can. The aliens will not have much bargaining power on the illegal side of the universe in this solar system. There simply are not many favors owed on that side, nor much interaction for that matter. It might even be argued that Epiphytes might had issues understanding the why of criminals in human society. Remember, to them humans are the aliens. And humanity is already crazy , bound in crazy, wrapped in crazy, and has a dollop of molasses on it for fun. They admitted way back on the rooftop that they don’t understand human society and how to navigate through it. IF.. if the Epiphytes got a ’good’ clue, as to who an why from mamma’s. (in general).. it might be worth a ’seed’ from them.. Presumably if they are hiding, they are less likely to blow Andrea’s cover, but also less able to provide Epiphyte support or perspective. (And data recording of the investigation’s progress.) I don’t see it as likely the Epiphytes would build that capability in. Do we know what Harmony’s pronouns are? He/His? She/Her? They/Their? It/Its? Us/Our? Pronouns are a primitive and ambiguous concept, necessary only for undeveloped sentients possessed of limited communications bandwidth. But the original question was "If they are there, recording and interpreting, why don’t we see them? And, if they aren’t there, why not and where are they?" I understood @robnot to be suggesting that Harmony is there, but we do not see them because they have changed their appearance to something less obvious or recognizable.
